Barracks row treebox planting

When Barracks Row Main Street wanted to upgrade the treeboxes along the west side of 8th Street SE in the Fall of 2019, it called on Guerrilla Gardeners of Washington DC. We marshaled our volunteers to add soil amendment and plant more than 200 liriope in the 700 block. We returned in the Fall of 2020 to plant the east side of the 500 block of 8th Street SE.

Business and property owners asked us to add Knockout roses to the treeboxes on the 700 block of 8th Streets in the Fall of 2021. This led to the establishment of internships for some of the young people served by Sasha Bruce: Gardening Partnership Helps Youth Bloom on Barracks Row
